Mollies Hotel Continues Under New Owners

Mollies, the multi-award winning Auckland boutique hotel that regularly appears on the must-stay list of luxury international hotel guides, is changing ownership.

After 10 years spent establishing Mollies as a luxury but discreet stopover for high profile international guests and a signature venue for Auckland corporate and charity events, owners Frances Wilson and Stephen Fitzgerald have sold to well-known Auckland business couple Murray and Nicola Rose.

“A venture like Mollies is very time intensive and Stephen and I have decided to spend more time pursuing their interests in music,” said Ms Wilson. “We’d like to thank Auckland for it gracious patronage of Mollies. We’ve been very fortunate to work with a great staff and enjoy very good relationships with our suppliers. We’re also pleased to be selling to people we’ve known for many years, especially given Nicola’s background in the hospitality industry.

“Our General Manager Joanna Bourke, and all our staff are staying on and our guests and clients will continue to enjoy the luxury, discretion and service for which Mollies has become internationally renowned.”

Ms Wilson will continue to have input into the music programme that has also become a feature of the Mollies experience but says she will miss the ambience of the hotel which is also her Auckland home.

“I understand Nicola and Murray intend to live on the premises, as we did, and I’m sure they will inject their own flavour into the Mollies atmosphere.”

Nicola Rose said while ownership was changing the hotel would continue to provide the high levels of luxury and service that had attracted international awards, and the attention of publications such as Condé Nast Traveller, the Tatler and Harper’s.

“Mollies has an internationally successful combination of luxury and service that also brings a lift to our local client functions and events. That’s not a formula you want to alter,” said Nicola Rose.

The hotel formally changes hands on March 31.
