Staples Rodway celebrates women in leadership

Staples Rodway Waikato is starting the New Year off with a double bang, celebrating the success of two key women in the firm.  At the beginning of February Rosanna Baird took over as Managing Director, and Associate Sharyn Bell became a Director.

Both Rosanna and Sharyn began their careers at Staples Rodway straight after graduating from Waikato Polytechnic and Waikato University respectively, and have been moving up the ranks in the office of the 50-plus staff ever since. 

Ten years ago when she was appointed Director she was the youngest in the Waikato firm’s history, and one of the first women. Rosanna is again making history as the first female Managing Director, and she is looking forward to the challenge.

“Ours is a youthful, dynamic team that takes on any challenge and works really well together. We have a very collaborative culture and I see my leadership role as Managing Director as giving guidance about the direction of the business and making sure we’re all moving along the same path, with the same goals and outcomes firmly in our minds.”

Sharyn Bell will continue to work with her own client base as she has done for the last five years, which includes many small to medium-sized businesses, but is looking forward to being more involved in the strategic direction of the business.

She balances her work life with a busy family life and her involvement in a number of community groups, where she is usually the treasurer. Sharyn has been treasurer of the Waikato Sunrise Rotary Club for two-and-a-half years and is proud that Staples Rodway has a long standing association with the service organisation.

In other changes in the Waikato office, current Managing Director Peter Bridges is stepping down from that role and will continue as a director of Staples Rodway Waikato. Peter, who has more than 30 years experience in chartered accounting, will continue to look after clients.
